RESEARCH

Primary Areas of Interest

CYBER CRIMES AND INFLUENCE CAMPAIGNS

With technological advancement and global digitalization, the threats in the cyber domain are exponentially growing and it applies equally to governments, business corporations, and individuals.

The new face of warcraft - the hybrid warfare; disinformation and influence campaigns, crimes against corporations, identity thefts, and their multilayer nature are on focus for the IIMSR team working in this domain.

SECURITY IN THE BALKANS

The process of gradual integration of the Western Balkan countries into the EU is ongoing for more than a decade but apart from Europe, there are already other active players that have interests in the region.

In this vector of analysis, the IIMSR is investing its intellectual capacity to study the political events and outline their security meaning for the continent.

Another focus of our interest is the Black Sea and the Aegean Sea with their critical geopolitical and economic importance.

ILLEGAL MIGRATION AND NEONATIONALISTIC MOVEMENTS

Illegal migration and all the challenges it imposes on the hosting countries fertilize the soil of far-right nationalistic movements to blossom, recruit people and threaten the stability of the states.

In this dimension, our researchers, and experts are involved in studying the development of such movements and the correlation with the presence of refugees and illegal migrants. What are the nationalistic campaigns based on? What messages do they send? What tools and methods they use? All these questions are part of the subjects of our research.

THE HYBRID WARFARE OBSERVATORY

Hybrid warfare is not an abstract term of something which is with high probability to happen but rather the bigger and integrated picture of events reported on a daily basis. The Hybrid War is present and ongoing.

By the HW Observatory, the IIMSR team is committed to the mission to research, study, analyze, and comment on the new face war. We want to raise awareness and to share experts' opinions and insights and by this, to contribute to the prediction of future events that may be of extreme importance for the shape of the new world order.
