Capt. (N) Prof. KALIN KALINOV, Ph.D.

Captain (N), Professor and Deputy-Commandant of Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, responsible for Education and Science.
Prof. Kalinov started his professional career as an officer in the Naval Forces. Between 2006 and 2009, he was appointed on the following positions: Assistant, Senior Assistant and Chief Assistant at the Military Academy. In 2011, he became a Deputy Head of the Educational and Scientific Section of the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy. Prof. Kalinov holds two Master’s degrees from Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy and from Georgi Rakovski Military Academy. He obtained his PhD degree from the Naval Academy in 2007. Since 2016, Prof. Kalinov holds a professorship.
Captain (N) Prof. Kalin Kalinov has a rich experience in scientific projects. He held the position of a coordinator (project manager) in the project “MAREM – Enhanced management capacity of the maritime industry personnel” in partnership with Constanta Naval Academy; the project “Innovative eco and energy-saving solutions at “Nikola Vaptsarov” Naval Academy”; the project “Integrated information system for supporting the coastal area management system.”as well as in the international project “Development of Common Curricula Modules for Merchant Marine Officers – DECOMAR“, financed under ERASMUS+ Programme with partners Romanian Naval Academy, Polish Naval Academy and Piri Reis University in Istanbul, Turkey. He has also been a researcher in a number of projects such as “Methodology for operational analysis of the national security and defense system, operational analysis of the organizational practices based on package of defense planning scenario.“; “Navigation risk research of the Burgas-Alexandroupolis pipeline”, winning the collective prize for best project in the field of technical sciences; “Research on the impact of a wind turbine park on the work of radiolocation meteostation”; the international project “E-maritime medicine“ in partnership with Constanta Naval Academy and an expert in the projects “Maritime sovereignty protection conception of the Bulgarian Navy” and “Bulgarian harbors and naval bases protection”. He has participated in over 50 national and international scientific congresses, conferences, etc.
