Adviser on Islamic Affairs in the Office of the U.S. Secretary of Defense for twenty eight years. He also served as the Turkish Desk Officer at the U.S. Department of Defense, Adviser on Islamic Affairs at Policy Planning Staff, U.S. Department of Defense and in the Office of the under Secretary of Defense for Policy, and in the Office of Net Assessment (Long-term Strategy) at the Pentagon.

A renowned expert in Islamic history and culture with rich academic experience in elite institutions. Harold Rhode, PhD is a Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Gatestone Institute, a Fellow at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA), Senior Fellow at Sino-Israel Global Network & Academic Leadership (SIGNAL), and was a visiting professor of Islamic History and Culture at Ariel University, Israel. He is a Political Commentator and Opinion Writer in many American and International media and print, and broadcasting networks.
